Global Champions Tour: Emotional finale in Doha

(15.11.2015) The big Finale of the Global Champions Tour is a highlight in every rider’s agenda. Pius Schwizer competed in Doha with PSG Future and Giovanni van het Scheefkasteel. With the nine year old chestnut stallion he managed to produce beautiful clear rounds. The couple was fifth in Thursday’s main class and took 10th place in the 150cm class on Sunday. „He did a good job and gained valuable experience.“ – In the Grand Prix he rode PSG Future, but unfortunately could not get a top result. After an ideal first half of the course they had both elements of the double combination down and another mistake followed. „Future jumped well here. What happened in that combination, I cannot really explain“, Pius Schwizer said. He finished the GCT in 12th position of the overall standings. The happy winner was Portuguese rider Luciana Diniz, who won the Grand Prix aboard Fit For Fund and who also grabbed the overall win. – Pius Schwizer looked back on tragic occasions: „This was a terrible week for me. My Jack Russell Nounou died in an accident last Monday. And also the horrific events in Paris made me reflect. All this pain and sorrow these terrorists do cause… The poor victims and their surviving dependants… If I see how hard it is for me to cope with the loss of my dog, this is just incredibly awful!“ Let’s hope for happier times.
