Hamburg: Derby and Grand Prix did not go to plan

(8.5.2016) The German Derby in Hamburg has its own laws: Today not a single rider managed to stay clear. So nine riders with four points went into the jump-off and it was Irishman Billy Twomey with Diaghilev who stormed to victory with the fastest clear round. Pius Schwizer decided to retire after Chellatus R had three poles down just before and after the big wall. „Today the stallion was a bit more impressed than in the two qualification rounds. And the scenery was indeed very impressive: Hamburg, especially with this kind of weather, is just a super show!“ – In the Grand Prix of the Global Champions Tour Pius Schwizer and Leonard de la Ferme CH were underway in great style, until they had poles down at the penultimate fence, which was the second element of the narrow double combination, and the very last obstacle. The rider still pointed out the positive things: „Leonard is a class horse, and that goes too for my other horses here. Delphi and Starlette will soon be ready for the big things.”
