GCT Rome: Leonard de la Ferme CH takes 2nd place

(11.9.2016) The Global Champions Tour event in Rome was influenced by heavy thunderstorms on Saturday. The Grand Prix had to be interrupted after five riders and got postponed to Sunday morning. Therefore the Global Champions League scheduled on Sunday was cancelled. Pius Schwizer, riding Leonard de la Ferme CH, took a fine 2nd place in the 155 cm class on Friday. Eight riders went on to the jump-off and six stayed clear again. Just 0.65 seconds made the difference and it was Simon Delestre on Chesall who caught the win. In the Two Phases Pius Schwizer was sixth aboard Balou Rubin R. He also rode him in the Grand Prix, but they had two fences down and could therefore not participate in the decisive second round. The happy winner was Harrie Smolders with Don VHP Z, in front of Simon Delestre on Chesall again. The Casall son was in good company. There were another two Casall horses, Caracas and Casallo Z placed in the first seven spots. And the exceptional seventeen year old Casall ASK himself, ridden by Rolf Göran Bengtsson, took fifth place. “All in all it was a good show for us. Leo and Balou are two promising horses for the future. And also Florence had several good rounds and placings here”, Pius Schwizer said. “Next week Florence, Deborah Lazzarotto and Stella Truempi will ride at the Swiss Championships in Sion, and I will compete in the Global Champions Tour again, this time with Leonard de la Ferme CH and Chellatus R in Vienna.”
